"I like the arts bus because you can do art and be whoever you want to be.
Also I just like the people here too."

The Art From Within (AFW) program uses the powerful
medium of movement & theater to offer Dunsmuir, CA youth an opportunity
to learn to dialogue effectively, and to develop positive solutions to
their personal challenges. The program is geared towards high school
students who have little
or no access to the arts, and for those kids “at risk” and who have
unsettled family lives.
The current focus is on movement, strengthening & conditioning, plus learning free-style break dance moves using "electrical funk" music! Teens meet twice weekly.
As participants progress, Theatre Arts will be introduced and used to create awareness and dialogue/solutions,
creating solutions to decrease violence, substance abuse and suicide.
The objective is to empower teens to write & perform stories &
original scripts for the purpose of prevention,
education & outreach to schools and community, and for the
students’ own personal development.
Questions? Call Pamela Newman: (530) 859-2309.
