About the Siskiyou Arts Bus Project
ImageThe Siskiyou Arts Bus is a full-sized retired school bus which is continues being transformed into a colorful fully equipped art studio. The Arts Bus mobile art studio is a fun work space for children. Local art instructors, experienced in teaching art and science, facilitate working with children with respect of their uniqueness and creative nature.

The instructors are artists themselves, and patiently facilitate a creative learning environment. The Arts Bus travels to designated sites at pre-scheduled times, and children come on board the bus for: painting, ceramics, sculpture and many other fine art experiences. The outside area under the shadow of The Arts Bus provides a stage for theatre arts, music and movement mediums.

The Arts Bus Project targets children who have had very little or no exposure to the arts, and who are offered no art-related after-school programs. With our helpful and skilled instructors, disadvantaged youth can create, explore and find inspiration as well benefit from the mentoring relationships developed through the program.

Your recurring financial donations help our youth programs flourish; they also sustain us. Donations of art supplies are also appreciated and allow children to express themselves in positive ways.

Children All Over The World Need Art!

Here's Why:

  • Art stimulates both sides of the brain.
  • Thirty percent of children are visual learners.
  • Art enhances perceptual development.
  • Children who experience art read better and do better in math and science.
  • Art enhances self-esteem.
  • Art helps develop hand-eye coordination.
  • Children with early art and music training are better able to visualize complex mathematical problems and solve them creatively.
  • Art develops awareness of the physical environment.
  • Art teaches children to engage in creative problem solving and open-ended thinking.
