August 30th, 2009: Paint-The-Bus Day #2. Volunteers helped paint the big bus, in Mt. Shasta. The efforts, skills and enthusiasm of Doug York, Jill Gardner, Nancy Marie, Maggie Woodard, John Sanguinetti, Rick Rhodes and Pam Newman are very appreciated-- the Big Bus is looking good!
July 31st, 2009: Summer Concert in the Park. On a warm summer night at Yreka's Miner Street Park, the bus was parked under the shade of beautiful big trees. When children weren't enjoying themselves running around on the plush lawn, they came aboard the bus where artist Jill Gardner and volunteer Terry Thompson offered exploration with water color painting, and they created peace flags. Over 41 children participated. Live music made this family affair sponsored by Scott Valley Bank a real blast!
July 19th, 2009: Paint-The-Bus Day #1. Volunteers helped paint the big bus, in Mt. Shasta. Thanks go to Donna Bringenberg, Jill Gardner & others!
July 4th Weekend 2009: The small bus was on site at downtown Mt. Shasta's 4th of July event. Kids and parents came aboard to enjoy hands-on arts & crafts activities.
June 27th, 2009: Day at Hoy Park. The Little Bus was part of the second annual family event at the spacious Hoy Park. The event featured children's activities, live music & venders. Kids enjoyed hands-on art activities on the bus.
June 27th, 2009: Siskiyou Motorcycle Association Kids Day Carnival at Bel Air Park in Weed. Over 45 Kids gathered in the BIG Bus where Pam and Ashleigh helped with arts in crafts that included painting rocks, drawing and clay pot design. All ages had a lot of fun exploring together at this FREE event.

June 16-July 16, 2009: Summer Art! program took place in Mt. Shasta on the big bus. Children ages eight to fourteen enjoyed participating in fine arts projects taught by professional guest artists Nadine Aiello, Linda Vivas and Jill Gardner. Assistants were Joan Romer, Danielle Light, Maggie Woodard and Pamela Newman.
May 29, 2009: Siskyou Arts Bus Project Youth Art Show and Reception. Community members enjoyed displays of art created by young artists from the Youth Art Club program, live music featuring Michael Yee, refreshments, hands-on activities aboard the big bus & more. This free event took place 4-6pm
at the Mt. Shasta Branch Library, with wonderful support from The Friends of The Library.

May 16, 2009: Teacher Training: Movement & Music for Young Children. A fun & informative hands-on workshop took place from 9am-2pm in Yreka, for anyone interested in learning about music & child developement for young children. This free workshop was facilitated by the wonderful Phoebe Fazio of The Music Farm. The training was sponsored by First Five Siskiyou.
May 6- June 10, 2009: Children's Movement & Music Class Session took place in Mt. Shasta on Wednesdays starting at 10am. Teacher Claudia explored rhythm, movement, percussion and singing with children ages one to three-plus years, and their parents.
April-June 2009: Youth Art Club after school art program took place Monday-Thursday afternoons on the big bus at the Mt. Shasta Library.
April 6, 2009: A Day For Kids; Mount Shasta. The Siskiyou Arts Bus Project and North State Parent celebrated Week of the Young Child at this fun event during Spring Break. Kids enjoyed activities, gymnastics demos & getting creative with hands-on art projects aboard the big bus. The event was free and took place at Mt. Shasta Gymnastics from 10am-12:30pm.
April 4, 2009: The Arts Bus Program participated in the “A Mile for a Child” Siskiyou 5K Walk/Run in Yreka held at the Yreka High School Track. Kids and parents came aboard the Siskiyou Art’s Bus & got creative with hands-on art projects during this fun family morning event that was sponsored by CSC, Child Abuse Prevention Task Force.

November-December 2007: Movement & Music Classes. Two four-week Friday sessions of Movement and music have been added due to popular demand! Location: Mt. Shasta. Dates: Nov. 16th & 30th, and Dec. 7th & 14th. Times: 10am and 11am.
October 5-November 2, 2007: Movement & Music Classes. Two 6-week sessions were held in Mt. Shasta at the Flying Lotus Dance Studio on Fridays. Both sessions were full. Session 1: 10am, ages one to three years; Session 2: 11am, ages four to five years.
August 2007: Siskiyou Golden Fair, Yreka. The Arts Bus hosted an arts area where children at the Siskiyou Golden Fair in Yreka created works of art.
July 21 & 22, 2007: Scott Valley Bluegrass Festival Appearance. The Arts bus set up an arts project area for two days at the Scott Valley Bluegrass Festival. We had many young visitors during the festival- some enjoyed making art so much that they offered to help out as art assistants during the event!
Early Summer 2007: Scott Valley residents Lynn Brown and Alan La Briere shared their carpentry skills and creative talent by designing and installing new counters and drawers in the buses' interior, helping to make it a useful and beautiful studio space.
April 2007: Earth Day Arts Events. The Arts Bus returned to be a part of the Earthday activities at the annual Mt. Shasta event held at Mt. Shasta City Park.
March-April 2007: Movement & Music Classes. Three six-week sessions of Movement and Music classes for young children were held in Mt. Shasta at the Flying Lotus dance studio. These classes were for infants, toddlers and young children ages nine months to five years. In this parent-participation class, children and their parents experienced the power of music, the magic of movement, and the positive effects of child development while exploring rhythm, movement, percussion and singing.
February 10, 2007: Art Gives Kids Heart! Valentine's Event. The
big bus visited the Berryvale Grocery parking lot on S. Mt. Shasta
Blvd. in Mt. Shasta, where over 30 children ages 3-17 came aboard to
create Valentine's Day crafts! This was the buses' second year of
offering this fun hands-on art experience. We supplied the materials
and the professional artists who were on board helping inspire young
artists to express their creativity in our mobile arts studio. The fun
included a goodies raffle, and gave the community a chance to check in
and see the progress of the buses' interior retrofit. See: Feb. 13th

January- March 2007: Children's Art Classes in McCloud. A series of eight art classes for children, taught by arts instructor was Debbie Blackwell, took place at the McCloud Community Resource Center on selected Mondays from 3-5pm.
 Music & Movement Class January 11-February 16, 2007: Children's Movement & Music Class. Due to popular demand, a new children's Music and Movement class was added, bringing the total of classes held during the 6-week session to three. Children and their parent/guardians enjoyed having fun with rhythm, movement, percussion and singing! Teacher Carla Glinka taught the class to children ages nine months to five years.
January 25, 2007: Excellent Art Show by Excellent Students. Held in Mt. Shasta, this was an art show by Sisson Middle School artists from the Special Arts for Special Children class series.
January 2007: Special Art for Special Children. Arts class series taught by art instructors Lauri Sturdivant and Didier Monath. Class culminated in the "Excellent Art Show by Excellent Students from Sisson Middle School art exhibit held on January 25, 2007, followed by an art showing at the Mt. Shasta Library. December 2, 2006: The big bus was parked at Dunsmuir's Candles in the Canyon event; children enjoyed art activities on the bus.
November 25, 2006: Yreka Holiday Parade. During the Yreka Holiday Parade the big Arts Bus was parked at the event, and children came on board to enjoy art activities.
October 7, 2006: Miss Lynn’s Tea Fundraiser. Twenty-three Siskiyou Arts Bus supporters met at Miss Lynn’s Tea House quaint teahouse located in the small town of Montague. While drinking tea in what looked like Grandma’s old-fashioned china, and sampling savory delectable foods, participants learned about California’s Art Day. Art instructor Linda Vivas offered a craft project, and participants learned more about the Arts Bus Program and how it will benefit Siskiyou County children. Thank you to all who made this fundraiser possible.
August 2006: Siskiyou Golden Fair, Yreka.The Arts Bus visited the Siskiyou Golden Fair in Yreka, where children came aboard and created colorful works of art.
Mid-June 2007: River Rafting Adventure Fundraiser. Parents, children and grandparents gathered on the Klamath River for a fabulous family-friendly river rafting adventure. This fundraising event benefited The Siskiyou Arts Bus Project. We began rafting on the Klamath River starting at the Tree of Heaven campground just north of Yreka. Much appreciation goes to our excellent, knowledgeable river guides from Turtle River Rafting Company in Mount Shasta. See their website for more information about rafting with Turtle River!

April 22, 2006: Earth Day Arts Events. Volunteer art instructors, Dee Fryling, Carla Glinka and Stacy Carter used recycled materials to create outstanding art projects with over 38 children under the age of 13. The big arts bus mobile studio was bustling with colorful and creative activities. The chldren's faces reflected lots of joy as they created art in a relaxed studio setting, with ample time to work as long as they liked.

The Arts Bus kicks-off it's on-board programming by hosting a Valentine's Crafts event at the Berryvale Natural Foods Grocery parking lot in Mt. Shasta. The Arts Bus deliverd a wonderful afternoon of fine arts to the community. Art teachers Brooke Nuckles, Debbie Blackwell, Kimberly Schneeman and Carla Glinka, along with art assistance from project coordinator Pamela Newman and Constance Diaz, Jonathan Joshua and Johanna Kais, helped create colorful, take-home beautiful art. Over 60 children attended and left the bus smiling with their art projects in hand. We thank Berryvale Grocery for hosting this event.
October 21, 2005. Siskiyou Children's Art Exhibition Artists Reception & Benefit Auction. The public enjoyed meeting the artists featured a collection of works created by young artists of
Siskiyou County, on display at Rare Images Gallery in Mt. Shasta. The evening included the auction of art designed and created by local artists, using the Big Bus's original bus seats as the canvases!
October 7-31, 2005. Siskiyou Children's Art Exhibition. The month of featured a collection of artwork created by young artists of Siskiyou County, on display at Rare Images Gallery in Mt. Shasta. October 7th's opening day event included a youth docent program, and gallery walk & critique.

August-November 2004: Playhouse Fundraiser
 The Playhouse Fundraising efforts come in many forms. In the summer of 2004 building a playhouse was our first such fundraising project; the playhouse was created with all with donated materials and volunteer help! Made of cedar, the playhouse was hand-crafted by Jonathan Joshua (Creative Carpentry) and Doug Orton. The finishing touches (painting) were done by local artists Kate Yorke, Melody Perdikis, Brooke Nuckles, Kimberly Schneeman and others. The playhouse was raffled off at the annual Christmas tree lighting event on a chilly November evening with the Mt Shasta Mayor picking the winning ticket! The lucky winner won a very well-built, colorful playhouse, and the project helped facilitate general operating funds for the arts project.The Siskiyou Opportunity Center and ACE Hardware provided most of the lumber for the playhouse.Jonathan Joshua makes the playhouse frame sizable for children:

Many volunteers worked hard to sort, organize and sell several hundred boxes of dish-ware, clothing, records, toys and much more. We generated over $600.00! Baked goods from many volunteers added to the event fun!
